What do I need to order?
To order number plates from Rightway Plates, to meet DVLA requirements, we require some documents to prove your identity, and your entitlement to the registration that the number plate is being produced for.
Proof of identification
We require proof of identification for you, placing the order. This does not have to be the registered keeper of the vehicle the registration mark belongs to, or the registered retention owner of the plate, but must match your order details.
If your proof of identification does not match your order details, we will contact you to request proof of identification matching the order. If we do not receive matching identification documents within 48 hours we may cancel your order.
Acceptable proof of identification:
- A valid driving licence, with or without a photo (whether or not it was issued in the United Kingdom)
- A bill from an electricity, gas or water supplier, a landline phone bill, a council tax bill, or a Northern Ireland rates bill issued within the last 6 months
- A bank or building society statement issued within the last 6 months
- A passport (whether or not it was issued in the United Kingdom)
- A national identity card issued by the government of a state or territory other than the United Kingdom
Proof of entitlement
Before plates can be produced presenting a registration number, we require proof of entitlement to the registration number. This must match your order details. Your plate(s) will be produced with spacing matching this proof of entitlement to meet our duties of producing road legal and conforming plates.
If your proof of entitlement does not match your order details, we will contact you. If we do not receive proof of entitlement within 48 hours of placing your order, we may cancel your order.
Acceptable proof of entitlement:
- Vehicle Registration Certificate (V5C)
- New keeper supplement (V5C/2)
- Certificate of entitlement (V750)
- Retention document (V778)
- Reminder to get vehicle tax or make a SORN (statutory off-road notification) (V11)
- Temporary registration certificate (V379)
- 'Number plate authorisation certificate' (V948 or eV948) with a DVLA stamp
- 'Trailer number plate authorisation certificate' (eV948/2) with a DVLA stamp
- Letter of authorisation from a lease or hire company, including a fleet operator, quoting the document reference number from the V5C (vehicle registration certificate)
